Stouts and Porters – Don’t miss this incredible craft beer line-up of 10 stouts and porters on 2/11! Special Imperial Stout Flight.

A stout is a beer of dark color due to the use of roasted malt in the brewing process.  The stout style actually grew from it’s predecessor: the porter.  The porter was a popular dark beer in the 1700’s  preferred by Porters, the guys who carried peoples bags in England.  Eventually a stronger version of this style was developed and called a “stout” porter. Today, more diversity within this style can be seen including Baltic porter, dry stout, milk stout and imperial (high alcohol) stout.  In addition, various ingredients can be added to make everything from a vanilla porter to a blueberry stout.  Join us!

Newburgh Oyster Stout 5.5%

An annual tradition at Newburgh is the creation of a small beer off of the brewing of our Russian Imperial Stout, “The Newburgh Conspiracy”. And with 2016’s brew, we bring you “Shelter Island Oyster Stout”  Our 2nd time brewing an Oyster Stout, with the first coming back in 2013. This version was brewed with Cornelius Queen Oysters from Long Island’s Shelter Island Oyster Farm. Beautifully black in color, the light body of this beer is a delightful surprise. An aroma of dark roasted coffee is followed by flavors of rich roasted malts and oyster brine.
